Low Spend Date Ideas

Low Spend Date Ideas

Last week Cole and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary with a cozy night in. We made a delicious charcuterie board and watched the hockey game. After a busy few weeks, it was the perfect night! It got me thinking about how date nights don’t have to cost a lot to be special. So, today I’m sharing some low spend date ideas!

Charcuterie Night

Of course this has to be my first suggestion. Building a good charcuterie board can be as affordable or expensive as you want it to be. I usually have a lot of what we like on hand, which helps cut down on cost too. This idea is especially cozy as we head into the colder months as well!

Take a Walk

Walking is so good for us, and it’s a great way to connect with our partners as well. Walks are always a great way for Cole and I to reconnect at the end of a busy day. We’re lucky to live in a beautiful city with lots of waterfront walking trails which are so nice, but even a walk around the neighbourhood can be enjoyable. Plus, if you have kids, they can come along and there’s no need to find a babysitter.

Movie Night at Home

Movie nights at home are one of our favourite low spend dates. We decide on a movie earlier in the week, get some good snacks (popcorn, candy, etc.) and get out all the cozy blankets and pillows. By pulling out all the stops, it feels more intentional and like a date but really we only spent a few dollars.

Playing Cards and Listening to Music

I have a beautiful record player that my sister got me years ago with a growing vinyl collection. Some nights, we’ll listen to an album or two, play cards, and chat. Spotify works too, though! It’s just a really good way to have fun together without screens.

Check Out Local Events

Checking out local events can be a great way to get out of the house without needing to spend a ton of money. For example, we’re planning to go to an upcoming Christmas market. The admission is $10 each (kids are free) and aside from the entry fee, we are in control of how much we spend. I imagine we’ll get a hot chocolate and do a little shopping, but it isn’t required making it a cheaper date idea that’s fun and festive!
