Apple crisp is one of our favourite fall desserts. Cole isn’t big on pie (crazy, I know) so this is a staple for us when we’re looking to have a special dessert this time of year. We recently went apple picking and have no shortage of apples laying around, so I of course had to whip up an apple crisp!
This recipe is really simple and everything is made in under an hour. So, if you have last minute dinner guests you want to impress or need something to bring to a dinner party in a hurry, this makes a great option! It also makes a great choice for Thanksgiving weekend (which is coming up for my Canadian friends).
All you need are some apples, brown sugar, butter, flour, oats, and cinnamon to make this delicious treat.
Apple Crisp
Ingredients
- 5 apples, diced (apples can be peeled or not)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup rolled oats (quick oats can work in a pinch)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Grease an oven-safe pie plate and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and oats until a crumbly mixture forms.
- Place the diced apples in the bottom of the greased pie plate and top with the crumbly mixture. Press it onto the apples to help cover everything evenly.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes.
- Let cool at least 10 minutes before serving.
While I prefer my apple crisp warm, it tastes great cold too. It also pairs nicely with a little vanilla ice cream for an added treat! Apple and cinnamon is always a winning combination and this apple crisp is no exception. It’s the ultimate apple recipe in my opinion.
This apple crisp recipe is sweet, comforting, and so yummy. We have it pretty often throughout the fall and it’s my go-to dessert to bring if we have a dinner to go to this time of year. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
