‘Saucy Chicken’ was a staple in my house growing up and is a dish I make quite a bit now that I have a family of my own. It takes only a few minutes to prepare and everyone seems to love it. It’s sort of like barbecue meets Chinese food in my opinion, and it makes such a tasty dinner year round!
To make the sauce you’ll need to combine vinegar, ketchup, Worcester sauce, an onion soup mix packet, some brown sugar, and a little water. Whisk it together and pour over your chicken. Everything then goes in the oven for about 45 minutes! So easy, and so delicious.

I typically serve Saucy Chicken with rice and a green vegetable like broccoli or green beans. There is always extra sauce in the dish after serving and we really enjoy drizzling it over our rice.
While the cook time is a little longer than I typically like for a busy weeknight, the prep time is so minimal that it makes up for the cook time. I’ll use that time to prep lunches and clean as I go, so while we are having a bit later of a dinner, once we’ve eaten there really isn’t much left to do! Or else, this makes a great cozy, weekend meal too.
This has been a favourite recipe for a lot of years and one I think your families will love as much as I do!
