Strawberry Preserves

Strawberry Preserves

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

I tried my hand at making homemade strawberry preserves last week and it was so easy! We went strawberry picking right before my sister’s wedding weekend, which resulted in our giant basket being neglected for a few days. The strawberries started to get a little soft, so I decided to turn them into preserves and I’m so glad I did!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This recipe only uses three ingredients and is so simple to make. It takes 60-90 minutes to cook, but it’s not very labour intensive. It tastes incredible and is super versatile too.

Ingredients

4 cups strawberries, sliced
3/4 cups sugar
the juice of 2 lemons

How to Make Strawberry Preserves

In a large pot over medium-low heat, add in the diced strawberries and give them a rough mash using a potato masher.

Then, pour over the sugar and lemon juice.

Give everything a little mix and let simmer for 60–90 minutes until desired consistency has been achieved.

Take the preserves off the heat and let cool before transferring to a container.

How to Serve

We have been enjoying these strawberry preserves on toast and mixed into plain Greek yogurt. It would also be great on ice cream! It’s really versatile and can be used in all sorts of recipes.

How to Store

I store our strawberry preserves in recycled jam jars in the refrigerator.
