Monster Rice Krispie Treats

Monster Rice Krispie Treats

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Halloween is fast approaching so I wanted to make sure I shared these Monster Rice Krispie Treats with you in time for the big day. These are so fun and festive!

I just used the Rice Krispies Treat recipe on the box. Once they were set, I cut them into different sized rectangles, dipped them in different coloured baking wafers that I melted down, stuck on some eye sprinkles, and let them sit.

Cuisine: American

Servings: 12 bars

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 40 large marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup coloured baking wafers (I used 1/3 cup of 3 different colours and did them all separately, but you can opt for just 1 cup of an individual colour)
  • candy eyeballs, as many as desired

Instructions

  • Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a pot over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter.
  • Once the butter is melted, add in the marshmallows, stirring until melted.
  • Add in the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to the lined pan and let set.
  • Once the Rice Krispie Treats have set, cut them into different sized squares/rectangles.
  • In a double broiler, melt the baking wafers with the remaining butter. (Because I did 3 separate colours, I only used 1-2 tablespoons of butter for each colour. If you're only doing 1 colour, melt the full 1/4 cup).
  • Dip the Rice Krispie Treats into the chocolate and finish with the eyeball candies.
  • Let set for at least 15-20 minutes before serving.

The end result is a super cute and yummy treat. You could totally make all of your monsters one colour to make things even easier. I just thought a variety of colours would be fun. I found the eyes at the Bulk Barn, but I also found similar candy eyeballs on Amazon!

These Monster Rice Krispie Treats have been a real hit. Not only with the kids in my life, but with the adults too. They’re a fun way to celebrate and are really easy to make. H is a little too small to help me in the kitchen just yet, but I can’t wait for us to make these together in the years to come. I think he’s going to think they’re so fun!
