Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs stewing beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or cornstarch
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  • In a dutch oven or large pot over medium heat, add in the olive oil and start sautéing the onion.
  • Add in the stewing beef, salt, and garlic powder. Add in the flour and toss the beef until coated. Brown the beef, until mostly cooked.
  • Add in the potatoes, carrots, and green beans. Let cook for 5-10 minutes.
  • Mix in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Let simmer for 30-40 minutes until the beef is very tender.
  • Remove from heat and let cool 5-10 minutes before serving warm.
